Design Annotations

Pixel-precise markup on design proofs (images + PDFs).

What this surface does

Design Annotations lets the customer (and designer) drop pin-style comments at exact x/y coordinates on a design proof. Works for both image proofs (PNG/JPG) and multi-page PDFs. Each pin captures coords, author, comment, and resolved flag.

When to use it

  • Reviewing a first-draft proof and marking specific spots that need changes.
  • Resolving pins one-by-one as the designer ships fixes.
  • Auditing what feedback was actually given vs. what the designer interpreted.

Key gotchas

  • PDFs annotate per page — pin coords are page-relative. Re-uploading a new PDF version does not migrate pins (file hash mismatch).
  • Resolved pins are kept for history; they do not disappear from the audit trail.
  • Storage path is captured on the pin (migration 190) so deleting the underlying file orphans the annotation visually but not in the DB.
  • Design Requests, Copy Approval.
